About Iranian Citizen Services
What is Iranian Citizen Services (ICS)?
+
Iranian Citizen Services (ICS) is an independent document consulting firm based in Irvine, California. We help Iranians in the United States and Canada navigate the process of obtaining, renewing, and managing Iranian government documents — including passports, national ID cards, birth certificates, powers of attorney, and civil registrations.
Is ICS a law firm?
+
No. ICS is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. We are document preparation consultants specializing in Iranian consular services. For legal matters — disputes, contracts, or legal interpretation — please consult a licensed attorney.
Do you help with U.S. immigration?
+
No. Our services are exclusively limited to Iranian government documents. We do not provide advice or assistance related to U.S. immigration, U.S. visas, green cards, U.S. citizenship, or U.S. government documents. For U.S. immigration matters, please consult a licensed U.S. immigration attorney.
What languages do you offer services in?
+
We provide services in both English and Farsi (Persian). Our staff is fully bilingual and can assist clients who prefer to communicate in either language — or both.
Are you affiliated with the Iranian Interests Section or Daftar.org?
+
No. ICS is an independent consulting firm. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or a representative of the Iranian government, the Iranian Interests Section in Washington, D.C., or Daftar.org. We assist clients in preparing documents for submission to those official bodies.
Services
What services does ICS offer?
+
ICS offers specialized services including: Iranian passport renewal and new applications, National ID Card (Kart Melli) services, birth certificate renewal and registration, power of attorney drafting and authentication, marriage and divorce registration, document verification and legalization, Mikhak system registration, apostille and authentication guidance, and more. Visit our Services page for the full list.
How does ICS pricing work?
+
Consulting fees vary depending on the complexity and type of service. We provide a clear, specific quote during your initial consultation — there are no surprises. Note that ICS consulting fees are always separate from any official government fees charged by the Iranian Interests Section.
Can ICS guarantee my application will be approved?
+
No. Final decisions are made exclusively by the Iranian Interests Section (Daftar.org) and the Iranian government. ICS cannot guarantee approval. What we can guarantee is that your application will be prepared accurately, completely, and in accordance with current requirements — significantly reducing the chance of rejection due to errors or missing documents.
How do I get started?
+
Contact us by phone, email, or through our website's contact form to schedule a consultation. We'll assess your situation, explain the process, and provide a clear action plan.
Passports
How do I renew my Iranian passport from the United States?
+
Iranian passport renewals are processed through the Mikhak system (mikhak.msrt.ir) and submitted to the Iranian Interests Section (Daftar.org) in Washington, D.C. ICS guides you through: Mikhak registration, document preparation (expired passport, birth certificate, national ID, photos, money order), and submission. Processing typically takes 4–12 weeks.
What documents are needed for passport renewal?
+
Typically required: your expired or expiring Iranian passport, birth certificate (Shenasnameh), national ID card (Kart Melli) if available, two Iranian-standard passport photos (3.5×4.5 cm), completed Mikhak application, relevant consular forms, and a money order for official fees. Requirements vary — ICS provides a personalized checklist based on your specific situation.
Can I renew my child's Iranian passport from the U.S.?
+
Yes. Children's passport renewals follow a similar process but require additional documentation including parent identification and, for children born outside Iran, their birth registration in Iran. ICS manages the complete process for children's passport applications.
Power of Attorney
What is a Vekalatnameh (Power of Attorney) and when do I need one?
+
A Vekalatnameh is a Power of Attorney that grants a designated person in Iran the authority to act on your behalf. You may need one for: selling or buying property in Iran, managing inheritance matters, representing you in court, managing bank accounts, registering marriages or divorces, and many other official transactions.
How does ICS authenticate a Power of Attorney?
+
ICS drafts the POA in bilingual Farsi and English, then coordinates authentication through the Mikhak system and the Iranian Interests Section in Washington, D.C., which notarizes the document for use in Iran. The complete process typically takes 2–4 weeks.
Can I use an ICS-prepared POA in Iranian courts?
+
A properly authenticated POA prepared by ICS and notarized through the Iranian Interests Section is generally valid for use in Iranian courts and official bodies. However, specific legal requirements vary by court and case type. ICS does not provide legal advice regarding your specific legal matter.
Mikhak System
What is the Mikhak system (سامانه میخک)?
+
The Mikhak system is the Iranian government's mandatory online portal for all consular document applications submitted from abroad. It is required for passport renewal, national ID, birth certificate, marriage and divorce registration, military service documents, and more. All applications must be registered through Mikhak before submission to the Iranian Interests Section.
How do I create a Mikhak account from the U.S.?
+
The Mikhak system is available at mikhak.msrt.ir. Creating an account requires your Iranian identification information. ICS provides complete Mikhak registration support — from account creation to application submission — in both English and Farsi.
What if I have trouble with the Mikhak system?
+
The Mikhak portal is entirely in Farsi and can be technically challenging, especially for those with limited Farsi literacy. ICS provides complete Mikhak support including account creation, troubleshooting, and application submission. This is one of our most requested services.

+

How does a remote consultation work?
+

Can you help Iranians living in Canada?
